I have nikon D80 18-200mm 5.6, is it worth 1900 dollars to get a 70-200mm 2.8? How much farther of a zoom would i get if i added a 1.7x teleconverter?

I scratched the glass that covers the lens and it shows up in my pictures. There is a dark spot in the middle where the cracks meet. Is it worth it to replace the lens on a point-and-shoot camera?
