I’m an aspiring photographer who’s really into the artistic side of the field. I’m really into portraits and outdoor photography. I recently bought a $600 digital rebel xt but because i wasn’t paying attention I didn’t realize until too late that it came without a lens. So now i’m left with a camera with no lens. What’s the best way to shop for a lens when you’re on a low budget?

doing the same effects but in post production?
I think that making everything in post is way faster and much more accurate than using filters during filming.
Moreover is cheaper. With a software of effects you can forget about using a red filter in a take because you can do it in post.
But maybe I am wrong.
What do you think?

I know the bigger the aperture the faster the shutter speed, but is there a technical name for such a lens? I want to get one that I can use in dim lighting conditions but don’t know what exactly to ask for.
Not a tripod or remote shutter release, got those already!

I turn the camera on and the automatic lens shutter will not open by itself like it should do. I reset the camera, still the same problem, i turn the camera off then on, still the same problem, i disconnect then reconnect the battery and still the same problem. The model of the camera is DCR DCD703E.
I’ve heard that the camera will not function correctly in some conditions. Is this because of that or is it a fault? I looked up on the internet for this fault and i was very surprised to find that other people have/have had the same problem. It seems to be only with sony.

I’ve got a yellow cloth, a pack of abrasive looking lens cleaning tissues, some isopropyl lens cleaning fluid and a squeezy ball with a brush on the end (the ball has a hole that fits the cleaning fluid) - but no instructions! There’s also some cotton buds.
